Voices of the 8th: Protest is Patriotic

Hello everyone, and a happy (early) 4th of July!

With the Senate passing the Budget Reconciliation Act, it’s hard to feel patriotic right now.

This 4th of July, we’re not just celebrating fireworks. We’re honoring the patriotism of protest and remembering that fighting back is one of the most American things we can do.

MAGA Republicans love to wrap themselves in flags while tearing down the values those flags are supposed to represent. They fight against fundamental American values by trampling on freedoms by suppressing votes, dismantling religious freedom, and persecuting immigrants.

The Budget Reconciliation Act is just the latest attack. It’s an unjust piece of legislation that puts corporate profits ahead of human lives. They are leveraging hate to destroy the very values they claim to idolize, trying to steer our nation towards authoritarianism — and we cannot let this go unchallenged.

📞 Call Rep. Gabe Evans today at (202) 225-5625 and tell him to VOTE NO on the Budget Reconciliation Act.

Tell him this bill will hurt you. Tell him he wasn’t elected to serve billionaires. He was elected to represent the people of Colorado’s 8th District. If he votes yes, he’s choosing to harm the very people he swore to serve.

If you need talking points with either Gabe or friends you are trying to persuade, please check out this Medicaid Fact Sheet from the state of Colorado. It breaks down the impact of the bill on District 8, specifically providing us with numerous facts to leverage in our arguments..

When we protest, when we organize, when we make ourselves heard, we are fighting for America. We believe this country is strong enough to care for its people. We know compassion is patriotic.

America is already great. Every time we speak out, every time we show up, every time we fight like hell, we’re working to make it greater for everyone.

So this 4th, protest the oligarchs. Give Gabe a call. Attend a protest — say hi to us at Gabe’s Northglenn office this Friday from 11:00 to 1:00. And encourage your friends and family to do the same. Then grab a hot dog, kick back with friends, and reflect on all that makes this country worth saving. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

💸 Backyard Oligarchs!

Martin Lind is using your tax dollars to fund an overpriced rec center project that could bankrupt the city. A petition is being filed to put it on the ballot.

Once it’s approved, we’ll need over 6,000 signatures. Let’s stop this wasteful project and take power back.

UPCOMING EVENTS

🪧 Gabe Evans Protest

Every Friday, a group of concerned constituents gather around Gabe Evans’ Northglenn office, demanding that the congressman fulfill his duties as an elected official and face his constituents.

This Friday falls on July 4th, and we are inspired by the idea of protesting on the holiday! (after all, wasn’t the Revolutionary War the first No Kings protest? 😉 )

The office will be closed, but the symbolism of protesting on such a day is undeniable, and it is a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people.

Bring some water, and we hope to see you there!

Join us Friday July 4th, 1:00 to 1:00 at 10701 Melody Drive, Northglenn, Colorado  80234

We are working to bring actionable steps and relevant events to your inbox every Wednesday. If you have an upcoming event or cause you’d like us to cover- reply directly to this email and we will follow up!
