Voices of the 8th: Wrongness of the “Right Way”

This article from Colorado Newsline has certainly been taking our district by storm!

Turns out, Congressman Gabe Evans has misrepresented his grandfather’s immigration status and criminal history. Unearthed documents squarely place Evans’ grandfather alongside immigrants Evans so vehemently claims should be unquestionably deported.

Color us all shocked

Did Evans intentionally mislead his constituents, or was he merely unaware of the details of his grandfather, Cuauhtemoc’s, life story?

Considering how Evans is refusing to answer to the press, we may never know.

However, this brings up an important issue regarding immigration.

“The right way” is a largely unobtainable myth, weaponized by racists to marginalize minority groups within our borders.

It is easier to turn a blind eye to the suffering of our fellow humans, all while justifying exceptions for our own friends and families, when we lump people into black and white categories of “right” and “wrong,” when the actual process is a messy tangle of gray.

We are a nation of immigrants, and odds are nearly everyone reading this newsletter has at least one immigrant ancestor.

So we’d like to hear from you!

Reply directly to this email and share your family’s history. When did your family immigrate? What restrictions or challenges did they face?

Let’s work together to destigmatize the idea of immigration and deconstruct the idea of there truly being a “right way” to immigrate.

Please feel free to include photographs, and let us know if we can post your family’s story in our newsletter and/or on our Bluesky account.

Take Action:

This week, we wanted to discuss actions we can all take to continue keeping the pressure on the release of the Epstein Files. Not only do we believe it is our moral duty to expose those who fraternize with sex traffickers, we also recognize the wedge it is driving in the MAGA movement, weakening the grip of authoritarianism that threatens our liberties.

Hold Evans Accountable-

We want to remind the congressman that we will not turn a blind eye to his complacency and continue to pressure him about this issue. As well as holding him accountable, we want to ensure we get Evans’ stance on record, through email, phone, and office visits.

INDIVISIBLE has an excellent toolkit that we highly recommend reviewing and taking action on.

Contact and/or visit Evans at the following numbers and locations, or email him here:
3400 West 16th St, Building 1S
Suite C Greeley, CO  80634
Phone: (970) 324-2567
10701 Melody Drive
Suite 500
Northglenn, CO  80234
Phone: (303) 723-6560
Keep Up Public Pressure-

MoveOn just installed a condemning billboard in Mike Johnson’s district, slamming him for preventing the release of the files. They are now setting their sights on placing a billboard outside Mar-a-Lago and continuing to sponsor online ads. Consider donating if you are able and agree with this approach.
